Course Overview :  

The Certified Functional Training Specialist (CFTS) program is designed to provide fitness professionals, physiotherapists, and strength coaches with an in-depth understanding of functional training. This course focuses on improving movement efficiency, enhancing athletic performance, and preventing injuries using scientifically proven functional training techniques. Participants will gain expertise in bodyweight exercises, kettlebell training, resistance band workouts, and mobility drills tailored for diverse populations, from athletes to rehabilitation clients.


Course objectives : 

  • - Understand the principles of functional training and movement mechanics.
  • - Design and implement functional training programs for clients of all fitness levels.
  • - Apply biomechanical and neuromuscular concepts to improve movement patterns.
  • - Use functional training tools such as kettlebells, resistance bands, and stability balls.
  • Enhance athletic performance through agility, coordination, and core training techniques.
  • - Address common movement dysfunctions and injury prevention strategies.
  • - Integrate functional exercises into rehabilitation and corrective training plans.


Course Modules:

1. Introduction to Functional Training - Definition and benefits of functional training , Principles of movement-based training, Functional anatomy and biomechanics.

2. Assessing Movement - Patterns Functional movement screening (FMS), Identifying movement dysfunctions, Postural analysis and corrective strategies

3. Core Stability & Mobility Training - Importance of core strength in functional movement, Mobility drills for improved range of motion, Stability exercises for injury prevention.

4. Functional Strength Training Techniques - Bodyweight exercises and progressions, Kettlebell training fundamentals, Resistance band and suspension training.

5. Agility, Speed & Power Development - Plyometric training for explosive strength, Agility drills for sports performance, Speed mechanics and reaction training.

6. Corrective Exercises & Injury Prevention - Common movement dysfunctions and corrective exercises, Functional rehabilitation strategies Joint stability and neuromuscular control.

7. Program Design & Implementation - Structuring a functional training program, Periodization and progression planning, Adapting programs for different populations
